Activities and Family Activities in Berlin

Berlin offers its visitors and residents a huge range of outdoor and indoor sport opportunities, whether you are looking for a mainstream activity or something more specific. The popularity of some sports also changes during the year. As most lakes freeze during winter, ice skating is more popular in winter, whereas in summer all Berliners pilgrimage to the local lakes.

Outdoor activities may not be the first thing you think about in context with Berlin but in summer this metropolis’ parks, unique green areas and the Spree are the perfect backdrop for some outdoor fun. Berlin is filled with little and big parks so there is always the option to get your friends together for a picnic in the park, sip a cold drink and just chill in one of the beach bars by the Spree or take a day trip and go swimming in one of the many lakes around Berlin.

Luckily a lot of ‘man-made opportunities’ exist for those who are keen on wall climbing, both indoors and outdoors. You can also take a walking or bicycle tour and marvel at the vast historical, architectural and natural sights. If you tend to enjoy what UNESCO names World Heritage sites, don't miss Museum Island.
